From: Peter Steward

Dear Fellow Rugby Player,
The modern game of rugby union has become a very demanding game,
placing rigorous demands on players. Despite its gruelling nature,
amateur players perform poorly in rugby-specific fitness tests and this
may be due predominantly to poor training habits, and lack of rugby
skills training.
Rugby is classed as a multi-sprint sport. Its intermittent nature
demands that players generate high levels of speed and explosive power,
as well as possessing the ability to recover quickly between sprints.
Strength is an obvious necessity for rugby players. However, muscular
size and body mass, although important is not the only goal of a rugby
player; Explosive power is equally as important, not only for the
development of speed and acceleration but for tackling and jumping.
The game has evolved so much since turning professional, making it
harder for smaller men to compete. In order to excel in the game of
rugby you have to master the basic skills of rugby and improve your
speed, strength and power.
The correct level of fitness and combination of strength and power,
together with the right mix of skills is what makes a rugby player
standout from the rest. For you to be classified as a good rugby
player, you have to be fit and powerful, and must have a good grounding
in the basic rugby skills as well as mental skills.
I've been involved in rugby coaching for the last 6 years, and one of
the biggest mistakes players can make is to believe that they just have
to turn-up for practice and the coach will do the rest.
Rugby is a professional sport, and it is your responsibility as player
to put in the time and effort to master the basics of the game and to
be in the best physical condition.
Absolute commitment is required if you want to be the best.
You need to take your fitness as serious as an Olympic athlete and know
when and where to use your brain - that makes you stand out from the
rest.
After 15 years of playing for some of the best rugby teams in South
Africa, I know that the best way to play winning rugby is to score more
tries than your opponents.
To score more tries, you must win precious possession, and to win
possession means you need to dominate the lineouts, the scrums, the
ruck and mauls, and just about everywhere that the ball is contested.
For you to be able to dominate a game, you need to be competent in the
skills of evasive running, kicking, passing, catching and tackling,
which are all prominent skills in rugby.
Take YOUR game to the next level by improving
YOUR rugby skills and fitness levels
Rugby is sports heaven to me because it has so many elements that make
it exiting for players and spectators alike: fast running, towering
kicking, fearless tackling and always the sense of danger, especially
when huge bodies start crashing into each other.
Since my involvement in rugby coaching, I've helped a lot of players to
advance in the game, mostly by sharpening up their basic rugby skills.
I've gained so much pleasure out of coaching and helping players that I
decided to create this website to do just that - helping players to
master the basic skills of rugby.
It's my passion to transfer my knowledge of rugby to people new to the
game and together with my experience help players better their best in
all aspects of the game.

Discover how to master the basic skills of rugby -
and have YOU become a skillful rugby player
Rugby union is a fast-paced, ball-handling game that requires specific
skills just like any other sport.
You have to realise that the game of rugby is built on basics.
You need to create a good foundation of all the basics, then build on
them, refine them and fine-tune them. If you don't have those building
blocks in place, you're always going to struggle.
If you drift away from the core principles of catching, passing,
running lines and tackle techniques then you're in trouble. Once you
stop practising these things - even for the most talented player - like
most things in life, the skills fall away very quickly.

along the backline with a flick pass
* Learn how to execute a dummy pass by showing the ball and changing
direction which is the one thing modern defenses do not like

Dominate the rucks, mauls, scrums and lineouts -
and be sure of winning the match
The scrum is a prominent feature of rugby, and is often described as
the engine room of rugby union, delivering a team's prime power source.
If a team is dominant in the scrums, lineouts, rucks and mauls, it
usually means they are well on their way to winning the match, because
what happens in this areas of the game affects so many other aspects of
the match.
* Understand the breakdown which means knowing the laws of a scrum, a
ruck, a maul and how to call, locate and form a line-out
* Learn how to ruck over the ball, regain position and launch
pick-and-go attacks which means outplaying your opponents

codes to win a lineout that will give your team the best
opportunity to launch attacks

match
Devise winning strategies to outwit your opponents -
and tactically outplay your opponents
A successful team is a patient team, waiting for the right moment to
strike and take advantage of the opposition, which may have suddenly
lost focus or unexpectedly offered an opening in its defense.
The aim of any team is to try and overcome their opponents through
pressure. That aim is usually achieved when all players in the team
have required the basic rugby skills and can keep the ball for as long
as possible, until a crack appears in the opposition's defensive line.
* Learn how to devise a good game plan, both on attack and defense
which means getting the ball past the opposition defense and making
sure no attackers get past your defense
* Discover how to make the best move which means taking advantage of
the weaknesses of your opponents
* Know how to coordinate defense which means successfully defending
your own goal line
* Understand man-on-man and drift defensive systems which will have
you select the best defensive strategy for your team
* Learn how to launch effective attacks which means outwitting your
opponents and scoring tries
Discover the best ways in which to
get fit for rugby - and stay fit
To be good on the rugby pitch, you have to be fit, and fitness is
acquired in the hours off the pitch. Nothing can take the place of hard
work. However, make sure that you are doing the kind of hard work that
gets you the results you want.
You need to maintain a level of rugby fitness that ensures you have
plenty of stamina, strength and power and flexibility.
To minimise the risk of injury and also to prepare your body for the
harder work to come, you need to start every practice or fitness
session with a well organised warm-up and stretching routine.
Eating the right kinds of food is also important.
You must follow a healthy diet that supplies the right amounts of
energy and essential nutrients for good health and physical
performance. It should provide the right proportions of carbohydrate,
fat, protein, as well as water and fiber.
The main 'fuels' used by exercising muscles are carbohydrates and fats.
The amount of each of these fuels used depends upon the type, intensity
and duration of the exercise.
* Find the more essential exercises you need to do to improve your
performance as a rugby player
* Discover the list of qualities and concepts that combine to create
total rugby fitness
* 7 Easy body stretches to improve your flexibility that will prevent
ligaments, joints and muscles from going 'piiiing' on match day
* How to develop a fitness programme that improves speed, muscular
strength, agility and cardiovascular endurance
* How to choose a balanced diet that includes proteins,
carbohydrates, fats, and fibre, and which provides essential
nutrients, vitamins and minerals
Improve your mental toughness by mastering
four key mental components
A vital factor to consider is the mental training that parallels your
physical training.
You must create planned mental skill workouts to develop a level where
you are able to achieve peak performances consistently in competition.
You will never get to the top without developing your mental toughness.
Achieving consistency and performing to your limit is heavily reliant
on your mental state, which, like physical skills, can be developed
through training.
* Learn how to determine your aims and ambitions, identify
conflicting interest and convert aims into goals by being committed
* Learn how to improve your confidence by feeling and being competent
in your ability
* Learn how to control the potentially disruptive emotions of stress
and anxiety which will have a positive effect on your playing
performance
* Learn how to improve your concentration by focussing on appropriate
cues and being aware of changes as they take place
"Immediate and substantial improvements"
Put simply, Peter has one of the sharpest rugby minds I have ever
encountered. He is an excellent coach of fundamental technical skills
as well as more advanced tactical awareness. Any player who has the
opportunity to work closely with Peter will make immediate and
substantial improvements in all areas of his game.
Mauritz Landman
"Instrumental in helping my game"
When I first made the move to Rugby Union from Rugby League in 2003, I
didn't really know what to expect. That's when I met Peter for the
first time. As I made my way through the grades over the next two
years, Peter was instrumental in helping me with my understanding of
the game and its rules.
As I look back now, I know I would never have achieved the things I
have, had it not been for the coaching and playing support I received
from Peter.
I strongly recommend the How To Play Rugby program to any aspiring
Rugby player.

"Took my game to the next level"
I was lucky enough to play for Peter during the 2004 season. During
that time, I learned and improved more than I could have ever expected.
His knowledge of the game (especially in the backs) is unmatched. He
was able to spot the weaknesses in my game and quickly turn them into
strengths.
With his help I was able to take my game to the next level. Anyone that
has a chance to work with him will make a noticeable improvement in
their game.
Jannie vd Walt

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.
